LEGO’s Coolest Video Game Set is Now Gone Forever

LEGO’s Coolest Video Game Set is Now Gone Forever

After being available for nearly two years, the LEGO The Legend of Zelda Great Deku Tree 2-in-1 set has officially sold out on LEGO Shop. The update was pointed out in a new post on X from Allen “Tormentalous” Tran, who noted that the set is now gone from LEGO’s official store after spending time on the company’s Retiring Soon list.

And the timing of all this really couldn’t be much more fitting. Nintendo just revealed the long-rumored The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake for Switch 2, and now the LEGO set built around one of that game’s most iconic locations is suddenly almost impossible to get. Some other retailers may still have copies at the original $299.99 price, but LEGO’s own supply appears to be dried up.

A new 18+ LEGO set leaks online, featuring almost 400 pieces in total.

LEGO’s The Legend of Zelda Great Deku Tree Set Has Officially Sold Out

The LEGO The Legend of Zelda Great Deku Tree 2-in-1 set was special from the get-go because it was the first official LEGO Zelda set. LEGO and Nintendo have already done plenty together with Mario, but Zelda always felt like a collaboration that needed to happen, and one that many fans were undoubtedly waiting to see. The series has dungeons, forests, monsters, weapons, music, and some of the most recognizable imagery in gaming, so it was only a matter of time before LEGO finally gave it a proper set.

And beginning with the Great Deku Tree actually made a lot of sense, with it being one of the most memorable locations from what is widely considered one of the most influential video games ever made, The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. The set is built around two versions of the character, one from Ocarina of Time and one from Breath of the Wild, which gives it a much wider pull than a set based on only one Zelda game. It also includes 2,500 pieces, four minifigures, and several smaller details tied to the series, including the Master Sword, Hylian Shield, Ocarina of Time, Navi, Skulltulas, Koroks, and Link’s house.

The Great Deku Tree was also always a smart move because it means something different depending on when someone first played Zelda. For Ocarina of Time fans, it marks the beginning of Link’s journey and the moment the game starts to open up beyond Kokiri Forest. For Breath of the Wild fans, it is the ancient guardian watching over the Master Sword. In short, LEGO managed to pick a piece of Zelda history that speaks to multiple generations of players at once.

But now that the set is sold out on LEGO Shop, its future is filled with a bit more uncertainty. As mentioned in a report by The Brick Fan, Target and Walmart still had the set available for shipping at $299.99 after the LEGO sellout, so fans may not be completely out of options yet. Still, once those remaining copies are gone, collectors will likely have to turn to resale listings, and the first official LEGO Zelda set feels like the exact kind of thing that could become much more expensive over time.

The Ocarina of Time remake reveal makes the whole thing feel even more appropriate. Nintendo bringing one of the most beloved games ever made to Switch 2 is going to put Ocarina of Time back in the spotlight, and the Great Deku Tree is one of the first images many fans connect to that game. LEGO still has The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time – The Final Battle available, but there is little doubt that the Great Deku Tree means a lot more to the game’s biggest fans—and now it may be remembered as the Zelda LEGO set fans wish they had grabbed sooner.
