Pearl Abyss continues to keep Crimson Desert updated, with the first patch of August 2026 making substantial changes to Trading Posts and the game’s overall economy. This latest patch continues the impressive post-launch support run that Pearl Abyss has been on, keeping Crimson Desert updated through nearly weekly patches ranging from fixes and improvements, to major content additions.
Crimson Desert may not have launched in quite the state that most were hoping, resulting in reviews that were less impressive than expected. However, instead of committing to a specific roadmap, Pearl Abyss instead looked at its community, listening to feedback and observing how the game was being played. As a result, the developer managed to add in requested features and make improvements to aspects that players didn’t like, while also continuing to fix various issues. As it stands, players have been impressed with how much support Crimson Desert has seen, and it doesn’t seem that Pearl Abyss has any intention of slowing down.
The biggest piece of update 1.16 for Crimson Desert is with the Trading Post feature and the overall economy. After downloading the update, players will find 133 new trading posts added, including a merchant at Pailune Trading Post. Pearl Abyss has also made adjustments to the types and quantities of goods being sold, including 24 brand-new high-value goods and 4 regular types. Trading Posts that are harder to reach by wagon will generate higher profits and royal trading posts will offer prices at a quadrupled rate. All in all, players who interact with trading posts will find that they can increase their overall profit earned.
Pearl Abyss has also added 7 Wagon Workshops, which are essentially “intermediate trading posts” and allow players to package and load trade goods. The map also has a Trade tab that shows trading posts, wagon workshops, and routes. Filters can be applied to find specific trading posts that sell specific goods, and market prices can be checked by viewing the details as well. While riding in a wagon, players can also see the routes on the minimap. Finally, banks in Crimson Desert have also seen a couple of changes, including the “Claim Bank Strongbox” option, an adjustment to the number of gold bars gained or lost via bank interest, and a new Bond Shop that offers rare items in exchange for bonds.

In addition to the trading post and economy changes, the patch makes a substantial number of bug fixes and quality of life updates. The improvements range from combat adjustments, visual oddities, to quest fixes and further tweaks to the alternative Crimson Desert protagonists of Damiane and Oongka. The duo have seen constant improvements over the past couple of months after fans initially noted that they felt underpowered with fewer abilities than Kliff. Pearl Abyss has continued to make them viable, adding new abilities and bringing them to be more on par with player expectations.
It stands to reason that the current version of Crimson Desert is pretty different from its launch version. Still, even with all the new content and updates, many fans seem to want to know more about the long-term future of the game. So far, Pearl Abyss hasn’t revealed much in the way of its plans, only teasing a major DLC release for Crimson Desert. The studio also shared a 3-month roadmap for June through September, with many of the promised features, like Cross Save, already making its debut. With today’s update, Pearl Abyss has also started in on the promise to improve non-combat activities as well.
