Minecraft Reveals More Content for Its First Game Drop of 2026

Minecraft has revealed even more baby mobs, but these ones aren’t all as peaceful as the others, as fans can see for themselves now in Java Snapshot and in Bedrock Beta in the near future. While still adorable, many of these new baby mobs in Minecraft are also hostile, so players shouldn’t expect the same cozy experience that baby mounts and farm animals have given them.

In early January, Minecraft revealed its baby farm mobs, redesigns of the baby forms of its cat, pig, cow, chicken, sheep, rabbit, and other generally peaceful farm critters. Replacing the previous baby forms, which were nothing more than scaled-down versions of the adult forms of the same animals, these new mobs feature their own graphical redesigns, usually with proportionally larger heads, and they’ve also been given unique sounds. Additionally, they have slightly different behaviors than their parents and usually run quite a bit faster, which is a trend that has also been showing with the subsequent additions of baby mounts, aquatic babies, and wild babies.

Minecraft: 14 Rarest Mob Variants

Players should grab a screenshot when they see one of these rare mob variants in Minecraft.

Minecraft’s List of Upcoming ‘Hostile’ Baby Mobs

  • Gurgle (baby form of Drowned)
  • Baby Husk
  • Baby Piglin
  • Baby Villager
  • Baby Zombie
  • Baby Zombified Piglin
  • Baby Zombie Villager

Now, Mojang has released new information covering seven more baby forms of mobs coming to Minecraft, and players will want to keep their distance from most of them without a good weapon in hand. As shown on the game’s official website, a variety of classic Minecraft enemies will be getting the baby form treatment, including Piglins. Players should also expect a fresh wave of charming little undead monsters coming their way, as the next game drop will include new baby forms for Zombie Villagers, Zombified Piglins, run-of-the-mill Zombies, Husks, and Drowned, the last of which sees its baby form given the unsettlingly adorable name Gurgle. Though their smaller size and floppy heads may be cute, players shouldn’t relax around them, as the new baby versions will provide higher-speed threats than their adult counterparts.

While a lot of the new baby mobs will be out to get players, multiple entries on the list that won’t be hostile from the get-go, including the miniature Piglins and Zombified Piglins. Additionally, baby versions of Minecraft‘s villagers are also being added to the game. Breeding villagers in Minecraft works a little differently than it does with animals, but with the right care, players can have a bunch of new baby villagers that Mojang describes as being “276% cuter than their old design.” In addition to these changes, the next drop should also bring additional sounds to the game, with the addition of the Note Block: Trumpet and a wider variety of animal sounds coming for the pig, cow, cat, and chicken.

These new baby mobs will be a little different than the ones that have already been revealed to players, and not just because many of them will make killing players their main objective. It sounds as though players either won’t need or be able to use Minecraft‘s Golden Dandelion item, which was introduced to work only on passive and neutral baby mobs with a natural growth cycle, to keep the newly revealed mobs small forever, even in the case of baby villagers.

While not yet available in vanilla Minecraft, players can get their first in-game look at the beta forms of these hostile baby mobs now in beta, though the development team warns that they might make the gameplay a bit unstable and could even lead to crashes until they’re ready for release in the main game. Presently, players can access hostile baby mobs in Minecraft‘s Java Edition by opening the Minecraft Launcher, selecting the latest Snapshot, clicking the play button, and choosing to Create New World. Baby mobs will also soon be testable in Minecraft’s Bedrock Edition, which can be found under the Minecraft Preview button in the launcher, though no exact date has been revealed for the new baby mobs’ addition to Bedrock.
