A new God of War release has been confirmed for early 2028, arriving with a significant $2,399 price tag. Because of the cost of the upcoming release, it’s fair to say that it’s something only the most hardcore God of War fans will be looking to pick up, budget allowing.
It has been almost four years now since a new God of War game was released. God of War Ragnarok was met with widespread critical acclaim upon its November 2022 launch, and fans have been clamoring for the next chapter in Kratos’ story ever since. This new upcoming launch may not quite fill that void, but it’s still something cool for fans to look forward to.
God of War Ragnarok Atreus 1/3 Scale Statue from Prime 1 Studio Launches in 2028
Japanese manufacturer Prime 1 Studio has officially unveiled its $2,299 God of War Ragnarok Atreus 1/3 scale statue, featuring a lifelike sculpt of Kratos’ son as he appears in the game. As part of the company’s Real Elite Masterline series, it stands at approximately 37.8 inches tall, making it a big addition to any gaming collection. Alongside Atreus is a bear and a wolf, representing the character’s ability to shapeshift. According to Prime 1 Studio, “The bear is arranged as a metaphor for Kratos, while the wolf represents Atreus himself, symbolizing a father-and-son relationship in which they stand side by side as equals.” Pre-orders for the statue are available right now, although it isn’t expected to ship until between January and April 2028.

It’s worth noting that the hefty $2,299 price tag is only for the DX Bonus version of the Atreus statue. This includes numerous swappable parts, including hands, arms, head sculpts, and a bonus Mask of Creation sought by Odin. This is limited to just 350 units worldwide, which explains the premium price. A basic edition is available without the aforementioned bonus parts, but this is still extremely pricey at $1,999.
Prime 1 Studio has tons of awesome gaming collectibles in the works right now across numerous franchises. Elsewhere, it also has a $2,399 Last of Us Bloater statue up for pre-order, with other products in franchises like Fallout, Gears of War, and Death Stranding also coming in the future. Gamers are spoiled for choice when it comes to premium collectibles, but Prime 1 Studio is definitely raising the bar at this price range.
Way before fans get their hands on the new $2,299 Atreus statue from Prime 1 Studio, they’ll be playing God of War Laufey, which now releases in February 2027. The spin-off features Faye as the protagonist, with the next Kratos God of War game already confirmed to be in development for afterward. It’s not exactly clear when gamers will next get to play as Kratos, with next to no information about the title available at this time.
