A decade after the release of Dark Souls 3, gamers are still patiently waiting for a new game in the series. Developer FromSoftware has long been holding off on a new Dark Souls, and in 2027, fans finally have something interesting to look forward to.
The Dark Souls franchise, alongside its predecessor Demon Souls, spawned the Soulslike genre. These games are categorized by certain common features, including high-difficulty combat where death is frequent – a true learning experience for players. Soulslike typically have sparse save points and challenging boss battles, too. The overall high level of difficulty is, for many, the defining part of a good Soulslike, testing players’ skills to their limits. It’s a big reason fans were so enamored with Dark Souls games upon their release, and why they’re still clamoring for its return.
First 4 Figures Dark Souls 3 Soul of Cinder Statue Launches in 2027
Courtesy of First 4 Figures, fans can look forward to a new Soul of Cinder statue, a great homage to the final boss of Dark Souls 3. The statue depicts the Soul of Cinder with exaggerated proportions, while still capturing all the boss’s key details. His pose includes him holding the Firelink Greatsword as he does when transitioning into his second phase during his boss fight, with a detailed base inspired by the arena players fight him in. It’s expected to launch in Q3 2027, and is priced at $359.99, with pre-orders open right now. However, it currently has a $20 discount, so it can be pre-ordered for $339.99.

While the hefty price tag for the Definitive Edition of the statue may put some fans off, it certainly justifies its cost. This version includes flame effects on the Soul of Cinder’s head and sword, with LED light-up functionality. There’s also an LED ring of flames surrounding the figure, which is not included in the cheaper $269.99 Exclusive Edition. Buyers will also receive limited-edition numbering on each statue assigned randomly, as well as an authentication card. The Definitive Edition statue measures 9.06 inches tall, 10.63 inches wide, and 9.25 inches deep, and weighs 2.1 kg (including the larger base).

In the absence of a new Dark Souls game, fans are always clamoring for any release they can hope for. While merch is cool, it doesn’t quite fill the same void as a full title. The good news is that fans do have a new Dark Souls release to look forward to in September: Dark Souls: Redemption Volume 3, the next edition of the manga by publisher Yen Press. Again, it’s not a game, but more Dark Souls is always a good thing.
In terms of the future of the franchise, it doesn’t seem as though FromSoftware is planning on reviving Dark Souls games any time soon. FromSoftware’s upcoming plans have hinted at new projects on the way, but there is no indication that this involves Dark Souls, especially given the enormous success of Elden Ring, which is the next evolution in the Souls formula.
