New Official Dark Souls Release Confirmed for September 22

Dark Souls fans have been starved for content for a long time now, but they have a brand-new release to look forward to on September 22. Confirmation has finally arrived that a new release in the wider Dark Souls series is coming, and fans only have two months to wait to get their hands on it.

Dark Souls is one of FromSoftware’s most popular franchises and was part of the studio’s breakout success in the early-to-mid 2010s. It helped further define the Soulslike genre, which began with 2009’s Demon Souls. Despite its massive popularity, the last new game in the series, Dark Souls 3, arrived in 2016, while a remaster of the original game was released in 2018. No matter how it’s contextualized, fans haven’t had much in the way of new content.

A new roguelite Steam game sounds like Dark Souls on paper, but in reality, plays more like a bullet hell version of Ghosts ‘n Goblins.

Dark Souls: Redemption Officially Releases on September 22

  • Price: $15.00
  • Pages: 208
  • Release Date: September 22, 2026

Dark Souls: Redemption Vol. 3 has officially been revealed by publisher Yen Press, the next chapter in the manga series by Julien Blondel, with a release date of September 22, 2026. The price tag of $15 isn’t the cheapest, but at 208 pages, there’s plenty of new Dark Souls content to enjoy for the money here. Its page count makes it the shortest of the Dark Souls manga released so far, albeit only slightly. The full synopsis for Dark Souls: Redemption Vol 3 can be found below:

“The tenuous alliance between a guardian, a keeper, and a hunter calms in ruin’s wake. Yet, like a candle against a gale, hope flickers with each passing moment. In these cursed lands, hope is the sliver of dawn which beats back the night. Be it for duty, family, or survival— our heros will march into the winds of a world lost to ash and despair. But the waning light of their hope cannot illuminate every dark corner of the world. And somewhere in the black stirs a reckoning which comes to snuff it out…”

The Dark Souls: Redemption manga series began in 2024, albeit to a slightly mixed reaction from the community. It was followed up by a second entry in August 2025, meaning there will have been just over a year-long wait for the next entry. It’s unclear whether there will be a fourth at this point. Unlike the Elden Ring manga (also from Yen Press), which is more of a comedy, Dark Souls: Redemption takes a horror fantasy approach. It’s much more similar to the game’s themes than Elden Ring‘s manga, and it’s totally down to personal preference whether that is a good or bad thing.

The success of Dark Souls has led to its adaptation into other media over the years. Around Dark Souls 3‘s release, it received a comic book adaptation from George Mann and Alan Quah, while a board game by Steamforged Games launched in 2017. In the absence of new releases, it’s cool to see that fan interest is still alive and well for new Dark Souls content.

Although the continuation of Dark Souls: Redemption is great, it’s not quite the same as a new video game release. While FromSoftware has plenty in the works right now, there is no indication that a new Dark Souls game is on the horizon, especially given its focus on Elden Ring.
