New Pokemon Winds and Waves Leak is Very Bad News for Another Game

New Pokemon Winds and Waves Leak is Very Bad News for Another Game

A recent credible leak for Pokemon Winds and Waves claims that the Gen 10 games will feature over 300 new Pokemon, which would be the most to be introduced in any generation. According to this leak, these 300 new critters in Pokemon Winds and Waves represent both brand-new Gen 10 Pokemon as well as regional variants for existing mons. This allegedly excludes any Pokemon with multiple forms or any of the new battle gimmick forms said to be featured in the games.

A massive number of details about Pokemon Winds and Waves have been leaked beyond this new Pokedex size. Included in these leaks are a supposed new regional variant of Psyduck, along with two new evolutions for it, as well as several other critters getting new cross-gen evolutions. If these leaks are true and Gen 10 is planning to add 300 new Pokemon to the franchise, another major Pokemon game is rumored to be in trouble after Winds and Waves launch.

Pokemon Winds and Waves Leak Reveals Massive Number of New Pokemon

A new leak for Pokemon Winds and Waves claims the game will feature an insane number of new Gen 10 Pokemon, the most of any game in the franchise.

Pokemon Winds and Waves’ Leaked 300 New Critters is Bad News for Pokemon Champions

The majority of these new Pokemon Winds and Waves leaks come from aggregator account CentroLeaks on X. According to CentroLeaks, Pokemon Champions could see a slow rollout of new Gen 10 Pokemon to the game after Winds and Waves drop. Based on the current release cycle for new Pokemon Champions additions, it could take a very long time for all the creatures coming in Pokemon Winds and Waves to make their way over to the competitive battle simulator.

  • Pokemon Champions Regulation Set M-A (launch) โ€” 210 Total available Pokemon
  • Pokemon Champions Regulation Set M-B โ€” 232 Total available Pokemon

Pokemon Champions has become the de facto platform for competitive battles since it was released back in April of this year. However, not every Pokemon can be used by Pokemon Champions players, with the current available roster sitting at just over 230 of the 1,025 total creatures in the franchise. The recent release of Pokemon Champions on mobile devices and the start of Regulation Set M-B on June 17 added 22 more missing Pokemon to the roster, but that is still only a fraction of the franchise’s National Dex size.

As it stands, each regulation set of Pokemon Champions seems to be adding just a handful of new mons and only updating to a new regulation set every few months. With this in mind, it’s theorized that Pokemon Winds and Waves‘ new critters will see a similar drip feed of additions to Pokemon Champions after the games are released. If this is the case, competitive Pokemon players may not get to use their favorite Gen 10 mons right off the bat, and they may even need to wait months before getting a chance to try some of these new Pokemon out in a competitive setting.

Pokemon Winds and Waves aren’t expected to release until late 2027, so there is still plenty of time for Pokemon Champions to pick up the pace of new roster additions between now and then. Some fans appreciate the more balanced meta in Pokemon Champions that results from this drip-feed-style release. However, other fans may miss getting to use their favorite Winds and Waves critters in Pokemon Champions as a result.
