A lot of gamers are enjoying what NTE: Neverness to Everness has to offer, but many are now lamenting how little of that enjoyment can be shared with friends. While Neverness to Everness offers multiplayer co-op features, players are now pointing to problems with and calling on the developer for changes.

Neverness to Everness is a new gacha game that got its start at the end of April 2026. Developed by Hotta Studio, the same team that created Tower of Fantasy, the new gacha game puts players into a supernatural 3D open world to explore, with Neverness to Everness featuring a number of activities and quests to engage in. However, the multiplayer features advertised in advance of the game’s launch seem to have left some fans disappointed.

Neverness to Everness Players Lament Co-Op Restrictions

According to numerous players, one of the biggest problems right now with Neverness to Everness isn’t a lack of things to do, but rather, an inability to share many of those experiences with friends. Accessing co-op in Neverness to Everness is easy enough, but there are limits on what players can do together. Fans are complaining that even simple things, like fishing, are off-limits when playing with friends, with many wishing that more shared activities were available in the game. Players have also questioned why Neverness to Everness launched with such limited multiplayer options, as Hotta Studio’s other game, Tower of Fantasy, had more robust multiplayer capabilities, including the option to fish with numerous other players.

While there are limitations, that’s not to say that there’s nothing to do with friends in Neverness to Everness. Gamers can do things like participate in fights, play select minigames, explore, and play the Pink Paw Heist together. Some fans have expressed hope that the game will gradually expand the options in co-op, especially since the game is still in its infancy. Some players have recommended bringing up the issue when participating in Neverness to Everness surveys, so that the devs receive the feedback directly. Whether that feedback will lead to any significant changes, however, remains to be seen.

Some have pointed out that it’s not entirely uncommon for co-op gacha games to be limited like this. Genshin Impact co-op play was frequently brought up in conversation, which was extremely limited at launch, and has gradually expanded over the years since. Plenty of gacha games simply lack multiplayer and co-op play entirely, with friends lists often limited to things like simple gifts or borrowing characters. Still, it’s likely that the multiplayer capabilities of Tower of Fantasy likely led to fans of that game expecting more from the studio’s latest effort.

Unfortunately, this isn’t the only controversy that Neverness to Everness is facing at the moment. Players and even some of the voice cast in the game have objected to the use of AI in the creation of Neverness to Everness, which forced the studio to respond. The developers claim that AI-assisted development tools were used, but that their use was limited to a “small number” of environmental assets and backgrounds, which the team is reportedly reviewing and reworking at this time. Time will tell if the issues with Neverness to Everness are resolved to the fanbase’s liking.
