Play Them All: PS Plus May Games Feature Only Bangers

All of the new PlayStation Plus games for May 2026 are available now, and there are quite a few highly-rated games in the bunch. The first PlayStation Plus update for May 2026 took place at the beginning of the month when a new batch of free games was added to the Essential tier of the service. The second update came in the middle of the month when the Extra and Premium tier libraries were refreshed.

The free PS Plus games for May 2026 that make up the Essential tier include EA Sports FC 26, Nine Sols, and Wuchang: Fallen Feathers. The Extra tier, meanwhile, was treated to Bramble: The Mountain King, Broken Sword -Shadows of the Templar: Reforged, Enotria: The Last Song, Flintlock: The Siege of Dawn, Red Dead Redemption 2, Star Wars Outlaws, and The Thaumaturge, while the Premium tier received the PS1 classic Time Crisis. Some games left PS Plus Extra and Premium that same day, including Mortal Shell, Control: Ultimate Edition, and multiple Dark Pictures games, but it’s still been a pretty solid month for the service.

Fighting enemies in Time Crisis

What’s notable about the new PS Plus games for May 2026 is that the lowest-scoring one of the bunch is a 69/100 Metacritic rating with Enotria: The Last Song. While 69/100 obviously isn’t ideal, there are plenty of solid games that fall in that range that turn out to be hidden gems. Indeed, Enotria‘s recent Steam reviews land it at a “Very Positive” rating, so Soulslike fans should definitely give it a shot through PS Plus Extra.

The highest-rated new PS Plus game for May 2026 is Red Dead Redemption 2, which is no surprise considering it’s one of the highest-rated video games ever made. Rockstar’s open world western is universally beloved and has been hailed by many to be a masterpiece for good reason. Red Dead Redemption 2‘s story and characters are second to none, and its world is a sight to behold. Being able to play something the caliber of Red Dead Redemption 2 through PS Plus adds a ton of value to the service, and should ease the pain of those sad that Red Dead Redemption 1 is one of the games leaving PS Plus Extra in June 2026.

PS Plus November 2025

PS Plus subscribers can look forward to more free games on June 2, which will almost certainly be revealed next Wednesday, May 27. Of course, more PS Plus Extra and Premium games will be coming in June as well, so subscribers should have plenty more to play next month, too.
