Pokemon FireRed and LeafGreen Player Finds One of the Better Uses for a Master Ball in the Game

Pokemon FireRed and LeafGreen Player Finds One of the Better Uses for a Master Ball in the Game

Following Nintendo’s recent re-release of Pokemon FireRed and LeafGreen, a fan has discovered a great alternative use for the Master Ball. Pokemon FireRed and LeafGreen made their way to the Nintendo Switch 2 earlier this year, porting the beloved classics with various minor improvements. Despite the price tag causing some discussion, the reception was largely positive. Now that these ports have put the titles back into public consciousness, the age-old debate on what to use the Master Ball on has also resurfaced.

The Master Ball is the most effective form of Poke Ball you can acquire in Pokemon FireRed and LeafGreen, able to catch anything upon its use. The negative to this seemingly perfect device is that the player can only obtain one of these throughout their journey, making it a huge decision when to use it. While some believe the Master Ball’s should be used on the legendary dogs, others think it’s better used elsewhere.

Some Switch Gamers Have Reportedly Gotten Pokemon FireRed and LeafGreen Early

At least one lucky Switch 2 user gets access to the new Pokemon FireRed and LeafGreen ports before the games are set to release on the console.

Pokemon FireRed and LeafGreen Player Uses Master Ball On Shiny Koffing

Reddit user RotundDragonite took to the Pokemon subreddit to post what they caught with their Master Ball. Rather than using the rare device on a legendary, this player opted to catch a shiny Koffing, a decision that may seem strange at first. Shiny Pokemon hold an extremely low 1 in 8192 chance just to appear, with acquiring a shiny starter in Pokemon FireRed and LeafGreen taking an average of 69 hours. This leaves encounters with them tense, worsened by Koffing holding another trick. This Pokemon has a move titled Explosion that causes it to faint, and unfortunately, a wild Koffing has a high chance of using the attack. With all this considered, RotundDragonite decided that the rare encounter wasn’t worth passing up on and used the Master Ball.

It seems the consensus among most fans is to save the Master Ball for the end-game legendaries, although the limited nature has inevitably led to some players slipping up. In the past, an unfortunate Pokemon GO player accidentally wasted their Master Ball on Gastly, and many fans certainly have horror stories where they used the wrong Poke Ball. Players should ensure that after obtaining the Master Ball, they make a hard save they can return to in case they accidentally use it.

Ultimately, Pokemon players should use the Master Ball on whatever they like, whether that’s a legendary, shiny, or simply their favorite Pokemon. With the Generation 10 Pokemon games on the way, it’s clear the series isn’t going anywhere, and fans should decide what they want to use the Master Ball on in the next entry they play.
