Pokemon GO players have been desperately trying to find Silicobra, and it appears that some may have figured out how to locate the Ground-type. Since the game’s release in 2016, Pokemon GO has been slowly adding more favorites from the mainline series. A lot of times, finding these Pokemon can be a difficult task, especially when the developers at Niantic add specific requirements.
Some Pokemon in Pokemon GO are tied to specific geographical locations. For example, Pokemon GO players can only find Kangaskhan spawns in the wild in Australia, though the game has offered other opportunities for players to obtain it elsewhere in the world. Other times, players must look for Pokemon in specific biomes, such as beach-like or forest-like areas.

Where to find Silicobra in Pokemon GO
Pokemon GO added Silicobra in April as part of the Sustainability Week event. However, the developers offered players little guidance when it comes to actually finding the Ground-type Pokemon. All players were told is that Silicobra can be found in the game’s desert-like biomes. That forced players to question what areas are considered “desert-like,” and how Niantic settled on the spawn locations chosen for Silicobra. The sleuths at The Silph Road have theorized that Niantic used the United States Geologic Survey’s 2020 World Terrestrial Ecosystem map, with Silicobra spawning in areas considered “Land Cover: Sparsely or Non-vegetated.” Some players have apparently also had luck finding Silicobra in areas that have sand.
What this means is that Pokemon GO players don’t necessarily have to live near actual desert climates to find Silicobra. They can use the map to find areas near their location that qualify, and seek out Silicobra while the Sustainability Week event is still live. Players might want to load up on Pinap Berries and Incense when exploring these locations, as 50 Silicobra Candies are required to evolve the Ground-type into Sandaconda.
This does potentially answer where Silicobra is spawning, but it doesn’t mean that all players will be able to find one before the event comes to an end. That might come as a source of frustration for some players, but Pokemon GO does have a tendency to ease up on strict location requirements during special events. Pokemon GO has allowed players to get regional exclusives through things like Timed Research, and it’s possible the same could be done for Silicobra at some point. Some players feel the need to track down every new Pokemon as it gets added to the game, but some are rewarded for being patient.
