Pokemon GO developer Niantic has pulled back the curtain on its plans for May, revealing Raid Day events scheduled for the month. The 10th anniversary of Pokemon GO is coming up in July, and Niantic has been teasing how it will commemorate the major milestone. Over the last decade, the game has become a vital part of the Pokemon franchise, bringing in newcomers while also attracting lapsed fans.
With May nearly here, there have already been multiple announcements about Pokemon GO. The month will see two Community Day events. Pokemon GO will have a Lechonk Community Day on May 9, while a Community Day Classic will take place on May 16. Niantic has not revealed which Pokemon will return to the spotlight for the latter event.

Pokemon GO May Raid Day Schedule
- May 2- Entei Shadow Raid Day from 2 to 5 PM local time
- May 23- Mega Raid Day
Pokemon GO fans can look forward to two different Raid Day events in the month of May. An Entei Shadow Raid Day will take place on May 2, putting a spotlight on a Legendary Pokemon that first appeared in the Johto region. The Fire-type has seen a lot of focus lately, as Pokemon GO has an Entei encounter as an April GO Pass reward. For those who are worried they won’t be able to complete the GO Pass before time runs out, the Shadow Raid Day is another opportunity to add Entei to the Pokedex. Players will also have an increased chance of encountering a Shiny Entei during the event next month. The Remote Raid limit will also be increased to 20. Additionally, Shadow Cresselia will appear in Shadow Raids between May 6 and June 2.
At this time, details for Pokemon GO‘s Mega Raid Day on May 23 have not been revealed. However, Mega Camerupt, Mega Glalie, Mega Altaria, and Mega Medicham will be appearing in Mega Raids, with each one taking over on a weekly basis. Five-Star Raids will feature Pokemon from Alola, with Nihilego, Tapu Bulu, and Tapu Fini appearing for all players. From May 13–19, Five-Star Raids will vary by region, as Buzzwole will be available in the Americas and Greenland, Pheromosa in Europe, the Middle East, and India, and Xurkitree in Asia Pacific locations.
In addition to everything on this month’s schedule, a major event will start to roll out at the end of May. The first Pokemon GO Fest 2026 in-person event begins next month in Tokyo, with events to follow in Chicago and Copenhagen in June. Fans that are unable to attend in-person Pokemon GO events will still get to partake in the festivities, but they’ll have to wait a little bit longer, as the Global event will take place in July. Few details have been revealed, but Pokemon GO Fest 2026 will put a big focus on Mewtwo.

One of the big rumors among players is that Mega Mewtwo X and Y will debut at Pokemon GO Fest 2026. Mega Evolutions have been part of the game for several years now, but Mega Mewtwo has thus far remained exclusive to the mainline Pokemon games. It seems that the long wait could soon come to an end, but fans will have to wait a little bit longer to see what Niantic has in store.
