At the latest Nintendo Direct event, Nintendo announced a substantial new update and three paid expansion packs coming to the wildly popular Switch 2 exclusive Pokemon Pokopia. Pokemon Pokopia released for the Switch 2 earlier this year to mostly positive reviews and millions of units sold. The game has been praised for successfully marrying the world of Pokemon with the life-sim/cozy game genre, with some dedicated fans already spending hundreds of hours unlocking new Pokemon and building their towns.
Pokemon Pokopia DLC Trailer
Pokemon Pokopia will be getting a free update in August that will give players the Dive ability. Using Dive, players will be able to explore the ocean floors in Pokopia, where they will find new Pokemon and be able to do basically everything they can do on land, which includes building houses. Effectively, Pokopia players are going to be able to build underwater cities when the new update drops in August.
The same day that Pokopia‘s free update drops, fans can also check out the game’s first paid DLC. Pokopia‘s Expansion Pass is going live later today, so pricing information isn’t available right now, but it will get players access to three DLC packs. The first DLC is Bubbly Basin, and will add a brand-new town for Pokopia players to renovate. The second DLC is coming late 2026 and will feature “additional new features” that have not been detailed at the time of this writing. Finally, the third DLC is coming in 2027 and will add yet another new town. No clues were given as to what that other new town might be like, but fans can look forward to more information in the months ahead.
