Pokemon Scarlet and Violet Players Have Until May 7 to Get Free Delphox

Pokemon Scarlet and Violet players have until Thursday, May 7, to claim a free Delphox for their collections. However, getting the free Delphox is not as simple as downloading it, as Pokemon Scarlet and Violet players will need to put in some time and effort to claim it.

Known as the Fox Pokemon, Delphox is the final evolved form of Fennekin and Braixen. Delphox first appeared in Pokemon X and Y as a Fire and Psychic dual-type monster, and is one of the more popular Fire-type Starter Pokemon due to its design and its high special attack power. With access to moves like Flamethrower, Psychic, and Shadow Ball, Delphox is among the most powerful fully-evolved Fire Pokemon in the entire series to date.

Pokemon Scarlet and Violet Trainers Can Get a Free Delphox Now

Following the Chesnaught Tera Raid event, Pokemon Scarlet and Violet players now have a similar opportunity to obtain a special Delphox for their rosters. Delphox the Unrivaled is now available for Pokemon Scarlet and Violet players to face in Seven-Star Tera Raid dens scattered throughout the Paldea region. Pokemon trainers have until 6:59 PM Eastern on Thursday, May 7 to catch Delphox the Unrivaled. However, unlocking Seven-Star Tera Raids requires Pokemon Scarlet and Violet players to beat the base game and complete several Five-Star Tera Raid battles to unlock Six-Star Tera Raids. Once Six-Star Tera Raids are available, Seven-Star Tera Raids should begin appearing throughout Paldea at various spots.

In Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, Seven-Star Tera Raid boss Pokemon are level 100, and are always Terastallized during battle. In the case of Delphox the Unrivaled, it has the Fairy-type as its Tera type. Although Delphox the Unrivaled also has the Magician ability, it has absolutely no effect in battle, making the Fox Pokemon a bit easier to face. While Fairy-type Pokemon are weak to Steel and Poison attacks, Delphox’s own Fire Blast and Psychic moves can counter its Tera-Fairy weaknesses. Delphox’s other moves include Dazzling Gleam, Magic Room, Will-O-Wisp, and Nasty Plot. Delphox the Unrivaled will start the battle by using Dazzling Gleam.

Delphox Can Be Obtained In Other Ways

Pokemon with the Flash Fire ability, including Heatran, Armarouge, and Ceruledge, can be useful in taking down the Fox Pokemon. Like previous encounters, Delphox the Unrivaled will grant the Mightiest Mark to Pokemon trainers that defeat it. However, Pokemon Scarlet and Violet trainers who had already caught Delphox the Unrivaled in either of its two previous Tera Raid appearances can’t catch it again. That said, Pokemon Scarlet and Violet trainers who miss out on catching Delphox the Unrivaled can also catch a Fennekin in the wild after purchasing The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero DLC. Fennekin can be caught in The Terarium, and can subsequently evolve into Braixen and Delphox at levels 16 and 36, respectively.

Additionally, Pokemon Scarlet and Violet trainers can also send Delphox to Pokemon Legends: Z-A and Pokemon Champions via the Pokemon Home app. Delphox has a Mega Evolution in Pokemon Legends: Z-A, which can be obtained by acquiring the Delphoxite via Ranked Battles. Currently, Pokemon Legends: Z-A‘s Ranked Battle Season 10 is underway until May 13, so participating trainers looking to catch the Fox Pokemon should not waste time.
