Pokopia Player Recreates Gerudo Town from Breath of the Wild in the Game

A Pokemon Pokopia player has faithfully recreated Zelda: Breath of the Wild‘s Gerudo Town. Since launching last month, Pokemon Pokopia has become one of the biggest hits of the Nintendo Switch 2 era. The game has proven very popular, particularly with players who enjoy games that allow them to stretch their creative muscles.

Following the game’s release, Nintendo announced that Pokopia sold 2.2 million copies in its first four days. The company has not released any sales updates since, but that number already makes it one of the biggest success stories of the Switch 2 era. The system is coming up on its first anniversary in June, and Nintendo has supported it with a steady stream of exclusive games. There are several other big games set to be released in 2026, including Splatoon Raiders, Yoshi and the Mysterious Book, and Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave.

An Iconic Zelda Location Comes to Pokopia

In a post on Reddit, user Witty-Plum-9572 shared a video of their take on Gerudo Town in Pokemon Pokopia. Gerudo Town is an important location in Zelda: Breath of the Wild, and the Pokopia design looks incredibly faithful. The desert oasis includes palm trees, waterfalls, and the Royal Palace, complete with Riju’s bedroom. After completing Gerudo Town, the poster has already said that they’re thinking about other locations that they could recreate, including either Kakariko Village or Rito Village. While a Pokopia version of Zora’s Domain would be exciting to see, the creator says that it “would be an incredible undertaking.” It’s hard to disagree, but Pokopia players don’t seem to be intimidated by difficult builds.

It’s not surprising that Zelda fans might be addicted to Pokopia. After all, Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom both gave players a lot of creative freedom. When the latter game was released, Reddit and social media were inundated with unique designs created by players using Zonai devices. Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom players came up with impressive builds in a manner similar to Pokopia. It makes sense that creative Zelda fans might gravitate to the latest Pokemon spin-off, even if the franchises are significantly different.

Zelda fans are eager to find out what Nintendo has planned next for the series; at this time, Nintendo has not announced what’s next. However, a remake of Ocarina of Time is rumored to be released on Nintendo Switch 2 later this year. Monolith Soft is continuing to work as a Zelda co-developer, but it’s unclear exactly what the team is working on. It’s possible the developer could have a hand in the rumored remake, or that they’re working on a true follow-up to Tears of the Kingdom. Nintendo tends to be pretty secretive, so fans are going to have to be patient until the company is ready to make an announcement.

Whatever the future might hold for Zelda, it’s clear that everyone will at least be waiting until later in the year before there’s another new game. Nintendo tends to avoid having too many releases in the same timeframe, and even if the Ocarina of Time remake is real, it’s safe to assume it won’t be available until later this year. Pokopia might not appeal to every Zelda fan, but players who enjoyed the creative freedoms of Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom might find something that they didn’t expect. They might even be able to recreate more iconic locations from the franchise, just like Witty-Plum-9572 did.
