Resident Evil Requiem Leon Shirtless Mod Reveals a Serious Posture Problem

Leon S. Kennedy has certainly been involved in more than enough nightmare situations throughout his tenure as a leading man in the Resident Evil franchise to leave even the fittest of fighters feeling fatigued, but newcomers and longtime fans alike were surprised to see the muscled-up hero’s terrible posture, revealed courtesy of an understandably popular shirtless mod for Resident Evil Requiem. Players have enjoyed getting to mow down mutated enemies as Leon in Resident Evil Requiem, and the release of one particular costume mod that sees the beloved protagonist going shirtless has surprised fans in an unexpectedly negative way.

Audiences were first introduced to Leon S. Kennedy in Resident Evil 2, but he arguably skyrocketed in popularity following his solo jaunt in Resident Evil 4. Fans were delighted to hear that he would be returning as one of the two playable protagonists in Resident Evil Requiem, with many excited to see how the iconic hero has aged. Despite having an even stronger build and more mature look, both of which have been heartily applauded by critics and players alike, one fan has noticed that Leon may not actually be the infallible powerhouse that he presents himself to be.

Resident Evil Requiem Leak Reveals Fan-Favorite Character’s Potential Return

Following the announcement of Resident Evil Requiem’s DLC, a trusted Resident Evil leaker states that a fan-favorite character may return.

During their playthrough of Resident Evil Requiem, Reddit user finnjakefionnacake noticed that Leon’s posture leaves much to be desired and decided to highlight the survival horror icon’s unfortunate spinal state with the help of a shirtless mod. In a single screenshot, they showcase just how incredibly hunched over Leon is while simply holding a flashlight, which begs the question of what may have caused him to have such a twisted back. Some pointed out the meta explanation of the game’s developers wanting to make sure the extra buff Leon’s hulking frame did not take up too much space on screen, but many fans have sought to finding a “canon” explanation to his posture problem. Considering the sheer number of fights that Leon has been in throughout the Resident Evil game franchise, plus his increased age, it serves to reason that time is simply catching up to him.

However, a number of players believe that Leon’s illness in Resident Evil Requiem may in fact be responsible for the deformation of his spine. Latent Onset T-Virus Syndrome, or Raccoon City Syndrome, is known to spread black lesions across the skin, seen early on to be covering Leon’s hand and later his neck, with other notable symptoms including coughing, organ damage, and intense pain that can make it difficult for an infected individual to move around. This last point in particular may serve as an in-universe explanation for Leon’s warped spine, especially since the poor posture is present in gameplay sequences when he has to run around quickly, but the back issues are absent in slower cutscene segments. Between the Raccoon City Syndrome festering away in his body and a lifetime of violent BOW battles catching up to him, it is not all that surprising that Leon has back problems.

Leon’s posture is not the only thing that has changed about the once bright-eyed young rookie cop. Capcom officially commented on Leon’s marriage status in Resident Evil Requiem, marking another major change for the lead character that shows just how far he has come since the Raccoon City incident all those years ago. Even as he gets older and deals with back pain like anyone else his age, there may still be more ahead for Leon following the end of Resident Evil Requiem, so interested players will want to stay tuned for any more details on Leon S. Kennedy’s future in the Resident Evil franchise.
