Resident Evil Requiem Update Finally Adds Highly Requested Feature

Capcom released a new update for its hit title, Resident Evil Requiem, fixing a number of issues across all platforms, while also finally adding a highly requested gameplay feature for players. As expected, Resident Evil Requiem has already become a massive hit for Capcom, which is likely even sweeter for the company as the franchise as a whole celebrates its 30th Anniversary. However, even with the game doing well, Capcom continues to hammer away on the game, refining and improving the experience further.

While Resident Evil Requiem was already seemingly like it was going to be popular, as it featured narrative connections to RE: Outbreak, things really seemed to take off when Capcom finally confirmed the rumors and revealed Leon Kennedy being the second playable character. While the game got off to a huge start on Steam, it wasn’t long before Resident Evil Requiem shattered the franchise’s sales record. In just 17 days, Requiem surpassed 6 million copies sold, also becoming the fastest game in the franchise to hit that mark. With expected post-launch content coming sometime in the future, it’s clear that number will likely continue to rise.

Resident Evil Requiem’s Rhodes Hill Chronic Care Center is a Little Too Good

Requiem’s Rhodes Hill Chronic Care Center is one of Resident Evil’s best set pieces, and it sets a high bar that will be hard to reach again.

In the meantime, Capcom continues to smooth out some rougher edges through various updates for Resident Evil Requiem. The latest patch, which arrived on March 27, 2026, continues to address issues with the experience. According to the patch notes, Capcom didn’t get super specific with what was fixed, typically opting to reveal that visual bugs and a “number of issues” were fixed to improve gameplay. Various crashes and typographical errors were also patched. Interestingly enough, the update did alter some character expressions in cutscenes to better convey emotion. It seems a popular ammo glitch with the Requiem pistol has also been addressed with this update.

However, the big piece to this update is that Capcom has finally added a proper Photo Mode to Resident Evil Requiem. Players can access it via the pause menu, though the patch notes don’t go into any further details. A social media post reveals a few of the possible options in Photo Mode, showing different camera angles, being able to change character poses and facial animations, items that can be placed in the shot, such as stars, as well as various themed frames. It’s clear that the community is going to have a field day with this feature, with some fans already posting some unique, and sometimes hilarious, photos on places like the Resident Evil subreddit.

While quality of life features such as Photo Mode are always nice to see, most fans are curious to see what the next big piece of post-launch content will look like. Many players have been clamoring for a dedicated Mercenaries Mode and while Capcom hasn’t revealed any details, it has been confirmed from director Koshi Nakanishi that Resident Evil Requiem does have downloadable content in development. With a number of story threads still being unresolved, many are hoping a story expansion can tie up those loose ends and answer some of the remaining questions that players have.

While there’s still plenty of positivity surrounding the game, Capcom recently came under a bit of fire for Resident Evil Requiem being part of Nvidia’s controversial DLSS 5 tech demo. Most reactions to the reveal were fairly negative, as most compared the upscaling effect to nothing more than an Instagram-style filter. Capcom later released a statement confirming the studio wouldn’t implement AI-generated materials and content into its games, but would use it to help improve efficiency. The statement was made during an investor Q&A session, though it wasn’t clear if the question itself was asked in response to the negative press from the DLSS 5 demo.
