Saros released patch 01.004.003 on May 19, 2026, focused on fixing bugs and progression-blocking glitches. Since launching on April 30, Housemarque’s Saros has received four patches, all aimed at further optimizing the game and adding quality-of-life improvements.
One of the biggest Saros updates came on May 5, just a few days after launch. It added several new accessibility and optimization options, including new color categories and preview images, along with Depth of Field optimizations. While this patch may not be as extensive, it still fixes some annoying issues that have been bothering many fans.
Saros Players Need to Learn What to Prioritize in Each Run ASAP
Like many roguelike games, Saros will give players plenty of choices between two upgrades, and knowing what to prioritize can completely change a run.
According to Housemarque, one of the core focuses of the 01.004.003 update is fixing game-breaking glitches. In particular, several progression-hindering bugs have been targeted. For example, an issue where players could get stuck outside the Solar Cage in the Atrium of the Cathedral has been fixed, along with a glitch in the Ancient Depths that could prevent the Vault gate from opening. The patch also includes fixes for Saros‘ weapons, including an issue where the Gun Control trait did not work on the Onslaught rifle. Additionally, the issue that caused the Incapacitor to stop working properly after restarting the game has been fixed. Also, a bug where artifacts and weapon traits caused players to die during the Second Chance cinematic has been addressed.

Saros is considered one of the best PS5 exclusives when it comes to console optimization. However, it hasn’t been free of performance issues. On the game’s subreddit, dozens of fans have reported problems with in-game items not working or certain mechanics blocking mission progression. Fortunately, Housemarque is actively addressing these problems, reducing them with each hotfix and patch. The game is also receiving smaller visual and audio improvements that enhance its cinematic feel. In the current update, for example, several audio issues have been fixed, while the previous patch adjusted peak HDR output. Thanks to that change, players can now reach the calibrated Maximum Luminance level on their devices.
Interestingly, one of the most requested additions to Saros has nothing to do with gameplay or progression. A quick look at fan comments under Housemarque’s post about the update proves that one of the highly anticipated features for Saros is actually a dedicated photo mode. Many players feel Saros‘ world-building and sci-fi universe is as photogenic as its spiritual predecessor, Returnal, and deserves its own photo mode. Another frequently requested feature is a co-op mode, which, unlike photo mode, would likely be much harder to implement, especially if it wasn’t planned from the start.
It remains to be seen whether Saros‘ future updates will introduce any major game modes or additional quality-of-life features. What seems almost certain, however, is that Housemarque remains committed to addressing critical gameplay issues while continuing to refine the game’s visual and audio performance, which has been a consistent focus of its recent hotfixes.
It is also worth noting that Saros has been receiving rave reviews from PlayStation 5 users in recent days. On the PlayStation Store, the game currently has nearly 7,000 reviews, with nearly 85% rated five stars. The community has also been actively promoting Saros and encouraging more PlayStation 5 owners to check it out. All of this could potentially boost sales and eventually lead to an even faster patch cadence from the developer.
