Weird Switch 2 Exclusive Game Gets New Update for February 2026

Nintendo has released a new update for Drag x Drive, one of the most unique exclusive games for the Switch 2. The game has received several updates since its release for Switch 2 in August 2025, and this latest patch should improve the gameplay experience for players.

While not the most popular exclusive for Switch 2, Drag x Drive caught the attention of some gamers thanks to its intriguing premise: players face off in wheelchair basketball by using the Joy-Con 2 mouse controls to move on the court. This control scheme was somewhat polarizing, but it made Drag x Drive an enticing option for Switch 2 owners who wanted a game to check out mouse controls. Unfortunately, the title lacked features many players hoped would be there at launch. However, Nintendo has listened to fan feedback for Drag x Drive, introducing local wireless play and the Survival Tag mode in subsequent updates.

Nintendo Switch Becomes Nintendo’s Best Selling Console Of All Time

Nintendo’s latest earnings confirm the Switch has surpassed the DS, becoming the company’s top-selling console of all time.

Drag x Drive Update for February 2026 Makes Minor Improvements

The latest patch for the Drag x Drive was released on February 3 and moved the title to Version 1.2.1. Unlike its previous updates, this new patch features only minor changes. Specifically, the developer fixed “an issue where the effect of defensive pressure on opponents’ halfpipe shots was smaller than intended.” While seemingly a small change, it should help create a fairer environment for those playing the game. In addition, the patch notes reveal that various issues were fixed to improve the gameplay. It is unclear the impact these could have on the game. The update should automatically start when launching the game on Switch 2.

This update might not draw many players back to the title, but it is nice to see Nintendo continue to support the game. Unfortunately, according to player reports, the player count for Drag x Drive appears to be struggling. Nevertheless, Nintendo has a demo for Drag x Drive available on the Nintendo Switch 2 eShop, giving those interested a chance to try before they buy. It should be noted that the game is only $19.99, making it much less than some other Switch 2-exclusive games. However, the potentially low player count could make the multiplayer-focused game less enticing for some. However, the inclusion of local wireless play is a plus for those who already have friends to play with.

This update for Drag x Drive comes as Nintendo recently revealed new details about how the Switch 2 and its games have performed financially since launch. Notably, the company revealed its top four best-selling Switch 2 games, with the list made up of Mario Kart World, Donkey Kong Bananza, Pokemon Legends: Z-A, and Kirby Air Riders. While Drag x Drive did not make the list, three of these games were Switch 2 exclusives. Additionally, Nintendo shared updated Switch game and hardware sales, revealing that the 2017 console had officially surpassed the Nintendo DS.

It will be interesting to see what Nintendo has in store for the rest of 2026. It should be noted that the developer has a Nintendo Direct Partner Showcase scheduled for February 5. While no news about first-party Nintendo games will likely be revealed, there could be some exciting surprises in store for fans. Perhaps there will be more unique games unveiled that utilize the Switch 2’s mouse controls similarly to Drag x Drive.
