‘We’re Still Here’ Marvel Snap Studio Addresses the Game’s Future

After concerns recently arose concerning Marvel SNAP laying off staff and winding down, chief development officer Ben Brode has reassured fans that the card-collecting game is not going anywhere. Developed by Second Dinner, Marvel SNAP was released in 2022 and won Best Mobile Game at The Game Awards that same year. In 2023, it also officially came to PC via Steam, where it has maintained an average of 2,000 daily concurrent players.

Rumors about Marvel SNAP shutting down began when community manager Griffin Bennett announced he had been laid off. Not long before that, designer Glenn Jones also parted ways with developer Second Dinner. Unfortunately, these two don’t appear to be the only staff affected. “Saddened to hear about personnel losses at Second Dinner,” Jones recently posted on his LinkedIn. Now, the studio’s co-founder has stepped in to address the layoffs and the game’s future.

Marvel Snap Accused of Plagiarizing Fan Art

Marvel Snap may have used superhero fan art in the creation of multiple in-game cards according to claims surfacing on social media.

Marvel SNAP’s Ben Brode Confirms Recent Layoff

In a Discord post, Brode confirmed that community manager Bennett had been laid off. “We’re still here, still building,” he wrote, explaining that “painful decisions” like this were made to ensure the game can continue to grow, not fade away. “We are still committed to this game and to you,” he added, assuring fans that Marvel SNAP‘s development has not stopped.

According to Second Dinner, 2025 was a tough year for the team. “We didn’t deliver in the ways we wished we had,” said a note published in March 2026, adding that “We fell short of both your and our own expectations in certain areas.” The shortcomings referenced in the note included pricing controversies for certain items, such as Kid Omega, along with technical issues. 2025 was also the year Marvel SNAP was removed from app stores in the US due to its former publisher, Nuverse, facing a ban for being a subsidiary of TikTok’s parent company, ByteDance.

The Game Is on Track to Achieve 2026 Roadmap Goals

Now, Second Dinner says these hardships are a thing of the past, and the team is ready to turn its card-collecting game into players’ “forever game.” According to the team’s roadmap, 2026 will focus on improving Marvel SNAP‘s infrastructure to make it more stable, reduce bugs, and support faster long-term updates. The studio also recognizes that players want more game modes like High Voltage in Marvel SNAP, noting that “players are hungry for [gameplay] that feels fresh, not just slightly different numbers.” As a result, more limited-time events seem to be on the way.

Marvel SNAP’s Focus in 2026

  • Fewer performance issues and crashes
  • Better memory efficiency
  • More room for new card mechanics
  • More room for new game modes
  • Easier re-runs of the limited-time modes and events
  • Faster bug fixes without needing a client update
  • Fewer recurring bugs

While news of recent layoffs at Second Dinner may worry Marvel SNAP fans, the silver lining is that the superhero-themed digital card game is not shutting down. In recent years, many once-popular games have been terminated, and it would be disappointing to see Marvel SNAP join that list. Fortunately, the team at Second Dinner appears committed to supporting the game for the long term and is actively working to make it more sustainable, which is encouraging in its own right.
