Wuthering Waves is officially coming to Xbox in July, bringing one of the most prominent open-world gachas to Microsoft’s platform. Released in May 2024, Wuthering Waves was Kuro’s answer to Genshin Impact – providing a snappier take on combat, better fidelity in graphics, and more player-friendly gacha mechanics. It has since established itself as one of the best gachas on the market, recently winning the Players’ Voice vote at The Game Awards 2025 after turning the game around following its lukewarm debut.

In January 2025, Wuthering Waves came to PS5, as Kuro opened the doors of its flagship title to a completely new audience. While its port has left a lot to be desired, with many players citing poor optimization, the actual content throughout Rinascita’s update cycle was met with glowing praise. Version 3.0 brought Lahai-Roi, continuing to deliver on the quality established by the previous nation, yet as Wuthering Waves players continue to enjoy their adventures in the Roya Frostlands, Kuro Games is ready to expand its open-world gacha to another platform.

Wuthering Waves Is Coming to Xbox in July 2026

Announced during the latest Xbox showcase on March 26, 2026, Wuthering Waves is scheduled to launch on Xbox Series X/S, Xbox for PC, and Xbox Cloud in July 2026. What makes its launch to Xbox even more enticing is the promise of exclusive goodies for Game Pass subscribers, though the exact nature and format of these remain unknown. Kuro Games also launched a teaser for the upcoming patch of Wuthering Waves, with Version 3.3 set to release on April 29, 2026 – far sooner than the game’s Xbox port.

The basic premise of Wuthering Waves is simple: it is an action role-playing game set in a post-apocalyptic world known as Solaris-3, where players take on the role of the Rover, exploring an ever-expanding open world while assembling a team of Resonators, each with their own distinct abilities and combat roles. Players can obtain Resonators via character banners in Wuthering Waves, which serve as the game’s gacha system. What separates Wuthering Waves from the competition is how customer-friendly its gacha can be: with a pity system capped at 80 for 5-Star characters, and guaranteed Weapon Banners.

Assuming Kuro Games maintains the cadence for its Wuthering Waves updates, Xbox players will be able to dig into the world of Solaris-3 during Version 3.4 – or more realistically, with the launch of Version 3.5 in late July 2026. By that point, the game will have developed most of Lahai-Roy, offering newcomers four distinct regions to sink their teeth into as they slowly work their way through Huanglong, the Black Shores, Rinascita, and the Roya Frostlands.

While there is plenty of excitement in the gacha community for Wuthering Waves coming to Xbox, many players are justifiably worried about how Kuro Games will port the game over to the Xbox Series S, given its performance issues on the base PS5. A July release offers the developers enough time to figure out how to properly optimize Wuthering Waves, which may hopefully lead to better performance across its other platforms as well. Players should keep in mind that Version 3.3 will fall on the second anniversary of Wuthering Waves, which will bring a few extra pulls to help them obtain Hiyuki or Denia – the two new 5-Stars set to release in the upcoming patch. Version 3.3 is expected to last from April 29, 2026, to June 10, 2026.
