Yet Another GTA 6 Detail Has Leaked Online

Songwriter Bobby Keel has claimed that David Allan Coe’s “Need A Little Time Off For Bad Behavior” will appear in Rockstar’s upcoming Grand Theft Auto 6. Keel was one of the original writers on the 1987 song, and he appears to have leaked the song’s appearance in Grand Theft Auto 6 ahead of the game’s release later this year.

With all the anticipation surrounding Grand Theft Auto 6‘s launch, it’s natural that fans are looking for any and all news about the game. Rockstar has been slow to ramp up promotion for the game, which is widely expected to be one of the biggest video game launches of all time. Potential leaks should always be taken with a grain of salt, but this particular one comes directly from a primary source.

Why Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick Won’t Play Grand Theft Auto 6

Grand Theft Auto 6 is one of history’s most hotly anticipated video games, but one of the key figures behind its development won’t be playing it.

Bobby Keel Claims Song ‘Need A Little Time Off For Bad Behavior’ Will Feature in GTA 6

In a Facebook post, songwriter Bobby Keel revealed that Grand Theft Auto 6‘s music selection will feature David Allan Coe’s “Need A Little Time Off For Bad Behavior,” which he co-wrote with Larry Latimer in 1987. He described the news as “BIG TIME HUGE,” and it’s hard to argue with that description given the hype for the game. While nothing is guaranteed when it comes to GTA 6 leaks, it would be surprising for the songwriter to state this publicly if it wasn’t true.

The song itself is a country classic, and it’s easy to see why Rockstar might want it to appear in Grand Theft Auto 6. While it may feel slightly out of place among the neon nightlife of Vice City, it definitely fits with GTA 6‘s Leonida setting, which is the franchise’s take on the state of Florida. Crucially, it’s not clear whether “Need A Little Time Off For Bad Behavior” will appear on the in-game radio, or whether it will take on a bigger role during a mission. Context will be key here, so the only thing now is for players to wait and see how Rockstar uses it in the game.

It’s not clear whether Keel had permission to share the news about the song. However, he wouldn’t be the first to leak their musical involvement in Grand Theft Auto 6, after two artists appeared to do the same back in February 2026. Given the secrecy around the game, it would be surprising for Rockstar to give explicit permission to reveal this, but there is no way to tell either way.

With its November 19, 2026, release date now almost seven months away, Grand Theft Auto 6‘s delays are hopefully behind it. Rockstar is expected to ramp up GTA 6 marketing this summer, after Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick reaffirmed its commitment to the current launch date earlier this year. Hype for the game will only continue to grow, and fans are expecting big things from Rockstar after a 13-year wait between titles. The developer has not yet revealed when it plans to release a third trailer, but it has now been almost a year since the last one.
