Nintendo Email Calls Users Out for Their Backlogs

Nintendo Email Calls Users Out for Their Backlogs

Some gamers have received unexpected emails from Nintendo, calling them out for not finishing their backlogs. Finding time to play video games can sometimes be challenging in today’s busy world, making it easy to collect more games than it is possible to play on Nintendo consoles.

It is not difficult to see how Nintendo gamers can rack up a massive backlog. The eShop features numerous titles for gamers to purchase, ranging from Triple-A hits to obscure indie games. While Nintendo has worked to improve moderation on the digital storefront to curb the amount of shovelware, there are still thousands of games of varying quality to check out. In addition, sales are held throughout the year, giving gamers more incentive to pick up games while they are available for cheap. This has led to some unfortunate consequences for some bargain hunters.

Nintendo Switch Gamers Have New Free Game They Can Claim Right Now

Nintendo has a new game available right now, and it’s free for all users to claim on the original Switch as well as Switch 2.

Nintendo Wants Players to Check Out Some of Their Purchased Games

One of these gamers that seemingly does not have time to finish their gaming backlog is Reddit user signpostlake, who recently took to the Nintendo Switch 2 subreddit to share an unexpected email they received from Nintendo. As seen in the screenshot, the email included the caption “Why not play these games you already own?” Below the text was a picture of the game Thimbleweed Park from developer Terrible Toybox, a game that signpostlake revealed they purchased during a previous Nintendo sale but had yet to play.

When sharing the email on Reddit, signpostlake admitted that their backlog was “getting a little silly now” and asked if other gamers had been called out by Nintendo yet. With over 2.5K upvotes, many users responded, with several claiming to have received emails from Nintendo related to other games, such as the original Final Fantasy 7. It is worth noting that some found the email confusing, as it seemingly encouraged gamers to complete the games they already owned instead of buying new ones on the eShop, which they thought was counterintuitive from a business perspective. Besides comments about backlogs, other users encouraged signpostlake to complete Thimbleweed Park, noting that it was one of the better indie games on the Switch.

More Nintendo Games Are Releasing Soon That Could Add to Gamers’ Backlogs

It will be interesting to see how many more gamers get called out by Nintendo. Judging by the comment section of signpostlake’s Reddit post, many Nintendo fans have massive backlogs that need clearing. However, more games are coming to Switch 2 in the next few months, which could make some gamers’ backlogs even bigger. Notably, Pragmata releases on April 17, and Amnesia: Rebirth launches on April 30. In addition, Yoshi and the Mysterious Book is coming on May 21, marking another first-party Switch 2 exclusive.

Fortunately, gaming backlogs are one of the better problems to have, as it means gamers have plenty of options when looking for something to play. Hopefully, Nintendo fans will be able to find time to play what they want before even more new Nintendo games lobby for their time.
