The midway point for Season 2 arrives next week with the Reloaded Update for Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 and Warzone, adding tons of new content, game modes, and the anticipated return of a refreshed take on Blackout. After a slower-than-expected launch last year, Call of Duty Black Ops 7 has seen an uptick in player popularity, with some fans even starting to believe that the game is now mocking its competition, like Battlefield 6, in some marketing materials.
Despite Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 not having a big sales impact in 2025, Activision is looking to continue growing the momentum started with Season 2. With the upcoming launch of Season 2 Reloaded, Activision has provided a major rundown of everything that players can expect in multiplayer, Warzone, and Zombies.
“Not Them Flexing” Call of Duty Fans Think Black Ops 7 Is Mocking Battlefield 6
Call of Duty fans believe Black Ops 7 is mocking its biggest competitor, Battlefield 6, after the EA-published shooter revealed its Season 2 roadmap.
Call of Duty Black Ops 7 Season 2 Reloaded Launch Date
As expected, Season 2 Reload brings 5 new maps to the popular Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 multiplayer experience. The fan favorite Call of Duty map Firing Range makes its debut in Black Ops 7, joined by Torque as the two new small-sized map offerings. Cliff Town and Grind represent the medium-sized maps, the former being a remastered version while the latter is returning from Black Ops 6. Finally, Mission: Peak is the lone new Skirmish map, set in a Medieval-style town with winding roads and plenty of towers for snipers to take position in.
Two new game modes are also launching in Season 2 Reloaded including Gauntlet, which is brand new to the series and pits 2 teams of 6 against one another in 5 rounds of different game modes. Modes include Domination, Kill Confirmed, Hardpoint, Team Deathmatch, and Roulette, with each one lasting 2 minutes and immediately moving to the next one. The winning team earns a point and the one with the highest total at the end wins. Infected is the other returning Call of Duty game mode, a party-style game where survivors try to hold out against infected players. Being killed means the survivor joins the infected side. However, in this version, the Infected have additional undead enemies helping them as well as unique Mutant Injection Scorestreaks to turn into Manglers or Disciples.
For fans of Call of Duty‘s PvE activity known as Endgame, Season 2 Reloaded also has a few notable additions. Glitch Fractures are an “off-map experience” that pulls players into a section of corrupted C-Link data. Survive multiple, escalating waves of enemies and the boss to access powerful NIghtmare skills like Nova Strike, Chaos Rounds, or Frost Vortex. In addition, players can earn the Exotic Fabricator after beating a Strike Boss, allowing them to upgrade any loadout or field acquisition into an Exotic Weapon.
The Return of Blackout
For many longtime fans, one of the more exciting elements of this update is that Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 is bringing back Blackout. Call of Duty‘s Blackout mode launched inside of Black Ops 4 and introduced players to its version of the Battle Royale genre, before ultimately being replaced by Warzone. Now, as part of Season 2 Reloaded, the classic mode is making its long-awaited return as Black Ops Royale, a free-to-play experience that sees up to 100 players drop into the Avalon map with no loadouts, no Gulag, and no Buy Stations. Teams will need to scavenge everything, staying alive against enemy players and a continuously collapsing circle.
Outside of that, Warzone is also seeing a new perk refresh for Momentum, Berserker, and Hunter. Berserker is replacing Bomb Squad while Momentum takes over for Alertness in Perk Slot 2. In Perk Slot 3, players will now see Hunter in place of Tracker.
Zombies Adds New Content for Players
The third pillar of the Call of Duty experience is Zombies and in Season 2 Reloaded, there’s a bunch of new content to look forward to. First up is Paradox Junction, a new map that places players inside a time-looped version of Nuketown, essentially trapped in a temporal prison by The Warden. Players can also earn new rewards and XP for working through the Main Quest in Paradox Junction, including a new weapon skin for the newly added Wonder Weapon, the quadruple-barreled Blundergat.

A new enemy called the Rad-Hound will also be summoned, a dangerous enemy that also explodes with radiation upon death. To help deal with the threat, players can utilize the Electro Shock Trap, a returning tool from previous games. Loot cysts can also be found throughout the map, filled with useful items, and Perk Machines are now randomized. For those who want an even bigger challenge, the Cursed option limits the player’s HUD, while also giving just a pistol at the start. However, players will uncover more secrets alongside the new Cursed Relics.
General Updates
It wouldn’t be a Call of Duty update without a refresh to the in-game shop, as new bundles are set to become available, including the Containment Protocol Reactive Tracer Pack. New event passes are also planned, including Counter Skies on March 17, adding new cosmetic rewards, the Swordfish A1 Marksman Rifle, and Echo 12 Backlash Launcher Kit. Players can also earn the Voyak KT-3 Assault Rifle as part of the Altitude Tactics event, alongside unique camos, reticles, and more.
