Another day means two things: we’re one day closer to GTA 6, and we still don’t have GTA 6. However, what might tide you over (other than the abundance of games available in 2026 before November) is looking at rumors! We’ve compiled gameplay and features rumors for GTA 6, which we see as likely to be true.
All rumors, no matter how big or small, should be taken with a grain of salt. When it comes to GTA 6 and Rockstar’s impressive secrecy, these rumors should be taken with a mountain of salt. Regardless, we’ll share what we’ve heard from across the web, and why we think there’s truth behind them.
5 Upcoming Games To Play Instead Of The Delayed GTA 6
2026 is a stacked year for video games, but with GTA 6 releasing in November, what games can provide you with a good time while you wait?
Dual Protagonists & Companion Mode
Jason and Lucia Deserve Date Night!
The protagonists of GTA 6 are Jason Duval and Lucia Caminos, a Bonnie-and-Clyde-style couple that prove that romance isn’t dead, as the thing that keeps the spark alive is a life of crime. While there hasn’t been gameplay of the duo in action like there has for Michael, Trevor, and Franklin in GTA 5, we won’t be surprised when you can switch between the characters on the fly.
More importantly, outside of the rumors of the dual protagonist system, is the Companion Mode. This mode could be officially revealed, or it may never even exist. However, considering how advanced the tech seems to be for GTA 6, the fact that you can control both characters at the same time or have an AI companion follow you seems extremely likely.
Weapon Handling & Concealment
Weapon Wheel Overhaul
The days of walking around Los Santos with an RPG in hand may be over, as GTA 6 is rumored to have a more in-depth and realistic weapon system in which you can’t just walk around the city brandishing your many weapons through the expansive weapon wheel.
Not only will civilians and police act accordingly if you’re holding a weapon, but the weapon handling itself is rumored to be like it was in Red Dead Redemption 2. However, instead of storing your weapons on a horse, it’s likely that you’re going to keep your favorite guns in your car’s trunk, but who knows?
Body Systems
Get Fat, Get Strong, Get Buff!
Grand Theft Auto 4 and Grand Theft Auto 5 ignored the concept of weight mechanics and developing physiques, but this is something that Red Dead Redemption 2 (kind of) experimented with, in which Arthur could grow a little chubby if he ate too much canned goods.
This feature could likely return in GTA 6, as the trailers so far have shown Jason as rather buff. Rumors swirl on the possibilities of keeping Jason and Lucia in shape, or perhaps it’s possible to let them enjoy some Cluckin’ Bell once in a while to lose those six packs.
6-Star Wanted Levels
The Return of the Full Force of the Law
One of the most fun (and controversial) aspects of Grand Theft Auto has always been the ability to commit egregious crimes and build a wanted level. Getting into a police chase, or just getting bored and seeing how much carnage you can wreak to build a 5-star wanted level, is one of the many things to do in GTA 5 as you wait for GTA 6, but what of the 6-star wanted level?
Grand Theft Auto 6 is rumored to return to the 6-star wanted level. After all, it makes sense, right? Grand Theft Auto SIX with SIX stars for a wanted level? This fresh rumor is likely, but what terrifies me is what awaits a 6-star wanted level in modern gaming. Are the National Guard getting involved?

Many, Many, Enterable Buildings
Over 700 Interiors Could Be Likely
One of the longest-running rumors of GTA 6 is the fact that over 700 buildings can be accessed. While this does seem like a long shot, we also wouldn’t be surprised considering Rockstar’s talent. There are plenty of accessible buildings in RDR2 that don’t require loading screens (we’re looking at you, Starfield).
Therefore, why wouldn’t it be likely that there are hundreds of buildings to enter? There’s bound to be plenty to do, places to go, and crime to commit, so we’re holding out on the fact that this rumor is true. But, like all the others, I guess we’ll just have to see.
Going Prone
A Franchise-First to Lay Down
Another credible rumor is the ability to go prone, something that’s been completely absent from GTA. While most of Rockstar’s titles have characters crouch or slightly bend their knees as if that makes any difference, it seems rather likely that GTA 6 will have the option to go prone.
This, of course, could open new possibilities of stealth gameplay, but could also be a nightmare for PvP players and griefers with the inevitable GTA 6 Online, as drop-shotting has plagued Call of Duty for decades, and now it might plague GTA too?
GTA Online Integration
What Happens to Our 13+ Year Old GTA Online Protagonists?
Rockstar has, so far, kept rather quiet about GTA Online and its place in the world of GTA 6. Obviously, GTA 6 is going to have an Online. After all, it’s extremely successful even 13 years later. However, how will Rockstar handle it? Will they leave GTA Online alone? Make GTA Online 2? Or integrate everything?
We’ve seen rumors of GTA Online‘s integration into GTA 6, but what that could mean remains a mystery. We have some speculative thoughts. Perhaps things get too hot for your GTA Online protagonist, so they move to Vice City? Or, maybe it’s just a new character with minimal connections.
Hunting (Illegal & Otherwise)
Hunting Animals and Gators Could Be An Illegal Activity
Animals are confirmed for Grand Theft Auto 6, and keen-eyed fans may have spotted lizards and alligators. With the Grassrivers wetlands being a key point of interest in Leonida, you’re likely going to run into a few gators in the swamps, and from what we’ve seen, killing them might be punishable by law.
There’s a screenshot posted by Rockstar of alligator hunters driving away from the police, and we can only assume it’s because they’ve been racking up gator hides illegally. Therefore, we can only assume that there are some animals that it’s acceptable to hunt, and others, for which it’s illegal.
