Living the Dream Tutorial Shows You How to Make Hugh Morris

Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream players now have the ability to perfectly create their own version of the game’s unofficial mascot, Hugh Morris, via a video tutorial provided by Nintendo. Nintendo EPD may not have expected Hugh Morris to become as popular as he has with the Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream community, but the development team is leaning into the original character’s newfound fame in a big way.

The April 16 release of the newest entry in the Tomodachi series has taken the Nintendo Switch by storm, providing a funny, quirky social sim game that lets players mostly sit back and watch the chaos unfold. Early reviews for Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream show a strongly positive reception from critics, though there are concerns about gameplay repetition and difficulties in sharing images and videos.

How to Share Tomodachi Life Living the Dream Screenshots & Videos

Tomodachi Life Living the Dream has some restrictions in terms of how screenshots and videos can be shared. Here’s how to share your content.

Nintendo Gives Offical Hugh Morris Creation Tutorial for Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream

Although Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream allows players to create Mii version of just about anyone, Nintendo’s social media team has now provided players with an official video guide for creating Hugh Morris, a standout original character that was used in the game’s pre-release marketing. Appearing on the official Nintendo Twitter account, the video is only 10 seconds long, but it highlights the exact parts needed to create Hugh Morris’ face and the slider settings for getting his voice just right. Recreating this original Nintendo character could also be a good way for players to get acquainted with the Face Paint tool, one of Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream‘s new features, which lets players draw whatever they want on Miis’ heads and is needed to create High Morris’ under-eye makeup.

For those not aware of the story behind Hugh Morris’ rise to fame, he was first revealed alongside the release date announcement of Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream in late January. During a 22-minute-long Nintendo Direct live stream focused on the social sim game, fans were introduced to a wide variety of gameplay elements on an island populated by a bunch of original characters, with a plot centered around friendly college student Angie. However, fans were quick to flock to Hugh Morris, a purple and red-clad jester who’s disinterested in monster trucks but has a particular skill for getting everyone on the island to fall in love with him. In the months between then and the game’s release, he’s become an icon in the fan community, being featured as the subject of numerous pieces of fan art and memes.

One aspect of Hugh Morris that the tutorial neglected to mention is what type of personality to give the character. There are a total of 16 different personality archetypes that Miis in Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream can have, and they can be further augmented via Little Quirks. However, a few keen-eyed fans have noted that, based on the wallpaper of his house, Hugh Morris appears to be an Energetic Merrymaker. This personality type can be achieved by setting all five traits in the personality chart to just a little bit right of center, into the slightly orange territory.

The tutorial may be a way of making peace with the parts of the community that are upset over the difficulty of sharing Miis in Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream with other players. Several early reviews have pointed to the game’s restrictions on sharing as one of its biggest negatives, which is especially problematic when considering that Tomodachi Life for the Nintendo 3DS had no such restrictions. There is still a way to share Miis in the new game, but it requires both players to be joined by the same local connection while they each have an active version the game running.
