Pokopia Player Spends 30 Hours Building Rainbow Road from Mario Kart in the Game

A Pokemon Pokopia player spent 30 hours building the Rainbow Road from the Mario Kart series in the game. Pokemon Pokopia, the first social simulation game in the 30-year history of the massive multimedia franchise, made its global debut in March of this year and has been a huge hit from the very start. The game sold over 2 million copies in its first four days, placing it among the top-selling titles on the Nintendo Switch 2.

The latest game in the Pokemon series also redefines the fundamentals of gameplay, shifting the focus from catching Pokemon to befriending them. Pokopia players have a wide range of options for creating diverse buildings and environments, often letting their imaginations run wild as they come up with interesting designs.

Pokopia Player Builds Rainbow Road From Mario Kart

On the Pokopia subreddit, a user named Reptar-bandicoot posted a video showing the in-game recreation of Rainbow Road from the Mario Kart series. The player explained that their project consists of over 5,000 individually placed blocks used to recreate the track from Super Mario Kart, followed by over 3,000 blocks used to create pixel art tributes to Mario Kart items and characters, all culminating in tracks that allow them to race along the route. The author of the post admitted that it took them about 30 hours to finish the project and that they are pleased with the final result.

The post attracted many Pokemon and Mario Kart fans, who expressed their admiration for this project inspired by one of the most popular video game series of all time. Some of them expressed surprise that the author managed to create all of this in just 30 hours, given the precision, faithfulness to the original, and creativity of the finished piece. Other commenters suggested that a Hall of Fame of sorts should be created for Pokopia, so that players could find this and other equally impressive works in one place.

The Rainbow Road recreation is one of many examples of incredible creations made by Pokopia players. Among the projects that have gained recognition and fame within the game’s fan community are structures such as a full-sized stadium, a giant city, and even a Taco Bell. Pokemon Pokopia players often take the opportunity to show off their work to others and, in doing so, exchange tips on navigating the many sandbox mechanics featured in this title.
