Resident Evil 4 Remake: Separate Ways – 10 Best Weapons

Resident Evil 4 Remake: Separate Ways – 10 Best Weapons

Red-clad Ada Wong finally got a proper starring role in Resident Evil 4 Remake: Separate Ways, a DLC based on the mode from the original 2005 game. Tasked with securing the Amber from the Los Iluminados, the double-crossing agent has her work cut out for her, as she will end up facing 7 bosses during her 6-hour campaign. Consequently, she will need to be armed with the very best weapons.

Resident Evil Village: 10 Weapons You Should Upgrade As Soon As Possible, Ranked

Since there are so many guns in Resident Evil Village, it helps if players know which weapons to upgrade right away.

Similar to its original counterpart, Separate Ways in RE4 Remake makes use of the game’s enhanced mechanics as players attempt to survive zombie horde after zombie horde while using Ada Wong. Thankfully, players can progressively unlock different types of weapons, allowing them to combat both the undead and Bio-Organic Weapons that try to stop Ada’s mission. Naturally, some of the weapons available in the Separate Ways DLC are simply better than others.

Updated on March 26, 2026, by Mark Sammut: Ada wasn’t featured in Resident Evil Requiem, and it is anybody’s guess when she might return (if ever). Fortunately, Ada got her time in the sun a few years ago, and her Separate Ways DLC is a must-play for anybody who enjoys the base Resident Evil 4 game. I’ve updated this article with information on how to unlock each weapon.

We have left the Rocket Launcher and Chicago Sweeper off the list, just because they are unique cases. The former should be mainly left for boss fights, and it would be a waste of ammo at nearly any other point. However, from NG+, you can purchase the Infinite Rocket Launcher, which costs 2 million Pesetas without the Ashley Charm.

The Chicago Sweeper is a must-own for players looking to complete Professional Mode with an S+ rank, but they would need to buy the ticket for infinite ammo. Without that, this submachine gun is good but not great due to its slow reload speeds and low damage. Once you have infinite ammo, the Chicago Sweeper should make short work of most enemies.

After finishing all the Merchant Requests, players can access the Elite Knife as a Bonus Weapon in the Extras Menu. When acquired, Ada gets a virtually indestructible Knife, allowing her to save much-needed creds that can be used to upgrade better weapons. While it maxes out to a ~2 Power Knife, the Elite Knife packs more than enough punch to eliminate enemies at close range.

Granted, the Elite Knife reduces its overall efficiency, provided it’s only unlocked after the player’s initial playthrough. However, the Elite Knife makes for the ideal replacement for the Combat Knife due to its sheer performance. Its unbreakable nature means that Ada can rely on the Elite Knife for her stealth kills and crucial melee fights, all without having to spend creds on repairs.

Unlock by completing all Merchant Requests. There are 7 in total, and they don’t need to be done in the same playthrough. Once those are done, you can purchase the weapon from the Extras menu for 1,000 Challenge Points.

Among the Pistols available in the game mode, the Punisher MC has the lowest stats. However, the weapon does shine in its special effects, wherein it’s one of the rare armaments in Ada’s arsenal that can be equipped with a Laser Sight, and it also has penetrative capabilities. Players who want to enjoy Separate Ways with Leon’s traditional reliance on sights may appreciate the added comfort with the Punisher MC.

While the Punisher MC is the weakest among Ada’s arsenal of pistols, its average stats and enemy-piercing mechanic make it useful in unexpected crowd-control scenarios. Starting with the ability to penetrate up to two targets (full upgrade raises this to five) can help Ada tear through enemies in tight corners, while its exclusivity to use the Laser Sight can greatly boost her Accuracy.

The Punisher MC becomes available to purchase from the Merchant in Chapter 2, and it costs 10,000 Pesetas.

At first glance, the Stingray‘s massive weight might make it seem rather sluggish, but the weapon can be deadly in the right situations. While its stats make the Stingray more optimal at long range, its semi-auto capabilities and fast firing rate should allow Ada to depend on the weapon when engaging foes at mid-range as well.

Despite its nature as a heavy gun that takes a lot of inventory space, players can use the Stingray as a decent alternative to the M1903 if they’re looking for versatility. Its lack of power means taking up more shots to kill enemies, but its incredibly fast firing rate allows players to use the weapon in medium-range engagements.

The Stingray is a late-game addition to the Merchant’s store, becoming available from Chapter 5. It requires 20,000 Pesetas.

While Leon can acquire the Blacktail far into his playthrough, Ada has access to the Pistol at the beginning of Separate Ways, immediately raising the weapon’s status as an ever-reliable sidearm. Its decent stats make it an all-rounder in terms of damage capabilities, especially if players don’t want to switch out to their more powerful but ammo-intensive primary weapons.

Every weapon and upgrade in Resident Evil Requiem can be found here, so you can see the raw numbers and costs to make the best weapons work.

Despite its nature as one of Ada’s starter guns that is just as strong as Leon’s counterpart, an upgraded Blacktail should become an ideal reserve option for most situations. With the right positioning and angling, Ada should always have ammo reserves for the Blacktail to take care of most enemies without having to bring out the heavy guns unless she is completely pushed into a corner.

Blacktail will immediately be available once you start “Separate Ways.”

Among Ada’s available weapons, the TMP serves as a middle-ground between weaker Pistols and heavier-firing Rifles. Being a fully automatic machine pistol, the TMP adds much-needed variety to Ada’s arsenal by providing her with a mini-SMG she can use to take down crowds quickly without sacrificing much-needed firepower.

Being more of an all-rounder compared to a heavy-hitting weapon, the TMP offers a decent balance between fighting crowds and mini-bosses with a heavier non-pistol armament. Considering the increased firepower of weapons like an upgraded M1903, a TMP can become Ada’s go-to weapon for fighting pesky crowds that need the extra punch but not necessarily to the level of the more powerful Blast Crossbow.

The TMP will immediately be available once you start “Separate Ways.”

Flash Grenade

Demolish Enemies Much Faster With Stuns

Flash Grenade in Resident Evil 4 Remake: Separate Ways

Among Ada’s weapons, the Flash Grenade stands out in its nature as more of a combat aid than an armament with direct firepower. However, unlike other flashbangs in FPS titles, the Flash Grenade in Resident Evil 4 Remake deals a whopping 2000 Damage, allowing Ada to take down basic foes when positioned properly on top of staggering elite enemies.

Despite its nature as a throwable, the Flash Grenade can become an asset in Ada’s inventory, especially when managing crowds. With the right aim, the Flash Grenade can kill opponents outright while stunning more powerful enemies. When overwhelmed with foes, Ada can easily get out of harm’s way with the right placement of Flash Grenades, with follow-ups courtesy of a neatly-placed Plaga shot or melee kill.

Along with having one grenade at the start, you can find quite a few more throughout the game. You can also buy the Flash Grenade recipe from the Merchant, allowing you to craft new ones using gunpowder and resources.

Among the shotguns that Ada can access in Separate Ways, the Sawed-Off W-870 is a must-have due to its sheer firepower. While its reload speed and starting ammo must be improved, the Sawed-Off shotgun in its higher upgrade tiers is one of the most potent close-ranged crowd killers in the game.

Players can equip up to three charms at a time in Resident Evil 4 Remake. Here are the best ones for gamers to choose from.

Granted, the low ammo capacity of the Sawed-Off W-870 and starting with a three-ammo mag up to a fully upgraded seven-ammo mag can become off-putting because Ada tends to face multiple foes at once. However, the weapon’s wider spread and stronger center damage can allow her to more dynamically engage foes, especially if she’s able to properly aim for clusters of enemies at once.

The Sawed-off shotgun is accessible fairly early in the campaign, becoming available in Chapter 2. You can buy it from the Merchant for 10,000 Pesetas.

Among Pistols in Separate Ways, the Red9 is rather contested due to its hefty size and stats comparable to the Blast Crossbow. However, players more comfortable using a handgun of comparable firepower should look at the Red9 as an alternative sidearm to a long-distance primary weapon, allowing Ada to cover all range options.

Serving as arguably the game’s best heavy hitters, Red9 can become an asset for Ada’s more challenging fights should players find the Blast Crossbow a bit burdensome to use. Upgrading the Red9 should offset its slow rate of fire and reload speed, although sharing the same ammo resource means crafting Crossbow Bolts separately could place the Blast Crossbow as the more worthwhile find.

As one of the best weapons in “Separate Ways,” the Red9 is left for the second half of the story. From Chapter 4, players can buy the handgun from the Merchant for 14,000 Pesetas.

Just like how Ada has dark reds as her primary color scheme, the addition of a Blast Crossbow cements her appearance as one of the few Resident Evil characters to boast a design theme exclusive to her. In Separate Ways, this weapon acts as a high-powered Shotgun that requires special ammo, forcing Ada to endure until Chapter 4 before she can craft special Crossbow Bolts from Knives.

Being her signature weapon, it makes sense for the Blast Crossbow to be one of Ada’s most reliable armaments throughout the game. Despite its slower nature compared to the Shotgun, proper aiming and upgrades to reload speed can easily result in one-shots. Thanks to its unique nature, players simply need to refurbish Knives for ammo, so the player’s gunpowder reserves can be used for other weapons.

Blast Crossbow can be found for free in Chapter 3’s Abandoned Factory.

Despite its nature as a Sniper Rifle, the SR M1903 is a standout in Separate Ways due to its massive firepower. While its base stats mean Ada should rely on the weapon on long-distance incursions, the right positioning and control over its recoil should give Ada a mix between a high-powered shotgun-esque weapon and a long-ranged assassination tool.

After its free acquisition in Chapter 1, the SR M1903 can easily become Ada’s most dependable weapon throughout a Separate Ways run. Its high damage may be offset by its rather slow firing rate and reload speed, but once upgraded, it can tear down foes consistently. The weapon only filling up a single row in the inventory makes it quite the space saver as well.

Found really early on, the SR M1903 is located in Chapter 1’s Castle Gate. It is next to the locked catapult.
