When the Nintendo Switch 2 first came out, it didn’t have many exclusive games to make it an unmissable new console for everyone to own. Some may argue that this hasn’t changed much to this day, but Pokemon Pokopia‘s success is undeniable, and Donkey Kong Bananza ended up being nominated for Game of the Year at The Game Awards, which is nothing to scoff at. Even when not counting the exclusive games for the console, the Nintendo Switch 2 is a massive improvement over the original, and it shows when playing past games, too. For example, Pokemon Scarlet and Violet run so much better on Switch 2, even without the upgrade, that it single-handedly makes the case for another playthrough.
That’s not even all there is, as the system will eventually get more and more exclusive games that are worth getting the console for, depending on their preferences. For example, Pokemon Winds and Waves will be exclusive for the Nintendo Switch 2, unlike the recent Pokemon Legends: Z-A. There are various exclusive games that fans may want to get the console for, and yes, I’m going to address the elephant in the room regarding the recently announced price increase for the Switch 2. But even then, if you’re on the fence about purchasing Nintendo’s new hardware, I beg you to consider doing so in June this year.
Nintendo Reveals the 5 Best-Selling Switch 2 Games So Far
Nintendo reveals the best-selling Switch 2 exclusive games that have been released for its latest home console/handheld hybrid so far.
Why June 2026 is The Best Time to Buy a Switch 2 (Before It’s Too Late)
First, let’s talk about the price increase. I know, this is not what you wanted to hear, but the Nintendo Switch 2 is getting a price increase this year. The news was from a few days ago, but the bump is not live yet. The price will increase in Japan on May 25, whereas it will happen on September 1 in the United States, Canada, and Europe. The price will be $50 higher than before, which will definitely be felt, and the console will go from $449.99 to $499.99. What follows is that the console will most likely have higher demand now through the end of August 2026.

The silver lining is that Nintendo has announced a new bundle for the Switch 2, going live in June, that will let buyers pick one game for free. The bundle will cost $499.99, so essentially the same as the Switch 2 after the price increase, and it will feature one game between:
- Mario Kart World (original price: $79.99)
- Donkey Kong Bananza (original price: $69.99)
- Pokemon Pokopia (original price: $69.99)
This is the best bundle for the Switch 2 so far. While the price difference makes the bundle more worth purchasing if you choose Mario Kart World as your free game, it’s still a $19.99 discount on Donkey Kong Bananza and Pokemon Pokopia. Considering that there is no worldwide release date for the bundle, with only the June 2026 window being official for now, it’s safe to assume that it will sell out fast because of the “while supplies last” clause. It may sell even faster with the looming price increase in September, but if you want a Switch 2, June is when you want to get one — unless you want Mario Kart World, in which case, a bundle with this specific game is already available.
