Nintendo’s franchises have always held wide appeal among gamers, and influencer and reality star Kylie Jenner has now revealed her love for The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. Released on Nintendo Switch and Wii U back in 2017, Zelda: Breath of the Wild was an immediate success story. The game offered an open-world take on Hyrule that built on some of the most beloved aspects of the Zelda franchise, while offering a level of freedom that had not been seen in past games.
Newcomers got another chance to discover the Zelda epic last year, when Breath of the Wild received a Nintendo Switch 2 Edition. This version of Breath of the Wild improved on several aspects of the original, with superior performance and visuals. The game also received new content in the form of Zelda Notes, a feature that added lots of newly recorded audio from Zelda actress Patricia Summersett.
Nintendo Sneakily Confirms Legend of Zelda Remake Without Saying Anything
The rumored remake of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time might be confirmed, and Nintendo didn’t even have to make an announcement.
Kylie Jenner’s Breath of the Wild Journey
In an appearance on Netflix’s Therapuss, Kylie Jenner discussed The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild with host Jake Shane. Shane seemed to be unfamiliar with the game, but Jenner provided her best attempt to recap the game’s narrative and background. While she struggled with the name “Ganon,” she displayed an impressive knowledge of the storyline, including the history of Hyrule. Jenner admitted that she’s still new to the game, but she’s already managed to free one of the Divine Beasts. It’s unclear what platform Jenner is playing Breath of the Wild on, but it says a lot that the game continues to attract audiences nine years after its initial release.

Jenner is in good company when it comes to Breath of the Wild fans. Overwatch creator Jeff Kaplan called Breath of the Wild the greatest game ever, and he’s certainly not alone. The game has sold more than 33 million copies, and won tons of awards. It’s safe to say that Breath of the Wild has had a huge influence on the trajectory of the Zelda franchise, but it has also influenced the development of several games since.
2026 marks the 40th anniversary of the original Zelda game, which was released on the Famicom in 1986 and the NES in 1987. Since then, the franchise has become one of the most important for Nintendo, in large part due to the critical and commercial success of games like Ocarina of Time and Breath of the Wild. Nintendo has remained quiet about any plans to celebrate the big anniversary this year, but it’s possible things could change over the coming months. An Ocarina of Time remake is rumored to release later this year, and a new Zelda amiibo will be coming out in September.

A Legend of Zelda movie will be released in 2027, directed by Wes Ball. The Super Mario Galaxy Movie was released earlier this year, with actress Brie Larsen playing Rosalina. Larsen had spent years publicly talking about her love of Mario and Metroid games before being cast in the film. With the Zelda movie likely nearing completion, it’s possible Nintendo could tap Jenner to help promote the movie. It’s unclear which games the movie will draw from, but Breath of the Wild seems like a very safe bet, and it wouldn’t hurt to bring in an experienced influencer that’s clearly passionate about the game.
