Fortnite Already Has the Perfect Way to Capitalize on Drake’s Iceman

Fortnite Already Has the Perfect Way to Capitalize on Drake’s Iceman

After months of teasing, Drake finally dropped his Iceman album, and this type of entertainment event is exactly what Fortnite thrives on. From concerts to emotes, music tracks, limited-time events, and Icon Series Skins, Epic has perfected the art of merging celebrity promotion and playable marketing. Rather than repeating his 2018 appearance as a famous streamer guest, Drake should return to Fortnite as either an official skin or a musical event, which would be a real full-circle moment.

Fortnite has staged plenty of massive media events, ranging from full-scale virtual concerts to Marvel-themed cinematic spectacles and even a preview of Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker. There is no way Epic will completely ignore Iceman, and it has a couple of ways it can capitalize on the album’s rollout. There is also one perfect way that Epic can turn this celebrity promotion into playable marketing.

Fortnite: Complete Guide

Here is everything players need to know about Fortnite, including season quests, beginner guides, and all sorts of tips and tricks.

The Perfect Way: An Official Drake Icon Skin Or A Concert

The Iceman Cometh

Drake is an important figure in Fortnite’s history. In 2018, the rapper famously joined Ninja on a Fortnite stream, breaking Twitch records while helping to bridge the gap between the game and mainstream pop culture. While it was already popular, Fortnite didn’t become a cultural phenomenon until this moment, making Drake inexplicably one of the more influential figures in gaming of the last decade. This collaboration was only the beginning; in 2020, “Toosie Slide” became an Icon Series emote, and it still goes into rotation. Songs like “God’s Plan” and “Sicko Mode” were also regularly featured on the in-game radio stations.

Up to this point, an official Drake Icon Skin has yet to be released, and May 2026 seems like the perfect opportunity to introduce one. The rapper has been presenting a new persona over the last few years, aka the “Iceman,” and a Fortnite skin tailored around this era of Drake could help sell this shift. Basically, both sides would win in this arrangement, especially since neither of them is as inescapable as they were in 2018 or when the “Toosie Slide” emote was introduced.

Alternatively, Fortnite can go the most obvious route and stage a virtual Drake concert, something that the musician has yet to do. This event could be used to introduce potentially millions of people to new songs from the 2026 albums.

Time For Another Rotation

Unless it was already in production, a Drake Icon Skin will take time to materialize, to the point that Epic could end up failing to strike while the iron is hot. Although not a perfect alternative since it doesn’t really match the musician’s current direction, Fortnite could add the “Toosie Slide” emote back to the item shop, just to have something out there that can capitalize on the rollout. This is probably the least exciting way that Fortnite can capitalize on Iceman‘s debut, but it is probably the easiest and quickest way.

Introduced in May 2020 as part of Chapter 2, Season 2, and last seen in January 2026, four months have passed since the emote’s last run. Usually, Fortnite reintroduces “Toosie Slide” every 3–5 months, so the timeline has aligned well for a new run. Honestly, it would be surprising if Epic didn’t start a new rotation sooner rather than later, especially since the game often releases emotes featuring viral dances or cross-promotional material.

Alternatively, just create a “What Did I Miss?” emote.

The Spectacular Way: A Frozen Toronto Creative Map

Reference Drake’s CN Tower Livestream (Iceman Episode 4)

During the long lead-up to the album’s debut, Drake opted to stage Iceman episodes, livestreams that are far more theatrical than typical for the rapper. Throughout this run, Drake often dropped ice sculptures in Toronto that contained information about the album, with the biggest one debuting in April 2026 in a parking lot. Countless fans contributed to its “destruction,” ultimately revealing the May 15, 2026, release date.

The last livestream, episode 4, happened on May 14, and it was probably the most impressive one to date. As outlined by cbc.ca, part of the episode involved Drake walking through Toronto’s CN Tower, a tease about what would happen at 9:45 PM. At that point, the tower was frozen (aka, light blue projections) to signal the arrival of Iceman.

Fortnite will need to act fast if they want to capitalize on this stunt, as it is likely to slip from the public consciousness relatively quickly. A potential method is to release a Creative map set in a frozen version of Toronto. Creator Volze created a zone war map set in the city in 2024, so Epic could definitely put something together.

The Thematic Way: Frozen Legends Or Black Ice Packs

Stick To The Iceman Vibe

If, for one reason or another, Fortnite decides not to directly reference Drake or Iceman, Epic could go down an alternative route by making the Frozen Legends and Black Ice cosmetic packs available to purchase. These two don’t have anything remotely to do with Drake or this album, but they thematically fit the rollout, which could incentivize fans to pick up these packs if they haven’t yet. Epic could also go the extra mile by updating these skins to be a bit more relevant; for instance, they could emit some frost when a beat switch happens.

Ultimately, it is hard to predict how long this album cycle will remain in the zeitgeist, so Epic might wish to play it safe and just use assets that are already at their disposal. Not the most exciting option, but these skins look pretty cool, so not the worst thing ever, either.
